Fire crews battled three house fires across Canterbury overnight. Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman Brent Dunn said a six-bedroom single-storey house on Isaac Rd was well ablaze when firefighters arrived. A fire investigator would attend the scene of the blaze, Dunn said. Later, just before midnight, seven crews attended a well ablaze fire at a single-storey house in Willowby, just south of Ashburton. He said the fires were a reminder to have working smoke alarms and to have safe electrical connections.
