NewsThe Finance Ministry's Secretary Dr R H S Samaratunga has been asked to appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) probing state sector corruption today (Oct 25). He is due to give evidence over a complaint concerning the storage of paddy at the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport. Samaratunga will be the last witness to give evidence before the PCoI, which will end the examination of complaints today, in view of its deadline which is to end on October 31. Former Supreme Court Judge Upali Abeyratne headed the investigation unit which comprised Retired Ministry Secretary Lalith R. de Silva, Retired High Court Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena, and Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Vijaya Amarasinghe. The PCoI was tasked with investigating allegations of fraud and corruption between January 15, 2015 and December 31, 2018.
