A trial at the Old Bailey has heard harrowing details of the last hours of the lives of 39 migrants who died in a lorry container in October last year. By 6.59pm, another victim had attempted to call emergency services, the court heard. A port worker who moored the container of dying migrants noticed a 'pungent' smell 'similar to waste,' the court heard. The migrants are thought to have died at around 10 to 10.30pm, the court heard. The court has previously heard that four other defendants have already admitted being part of a people-smuggling plot.
