These questions linger because of the dismal showing of Filipino students not just in one but two global assessments. The results showed that more than 80 percent of 15-year-old Filipino students were not proficient in reading. Do Filipino students neglect their studies? Or is there a deep-seated problem that must be resolved to address the dismal academic performance of Filipino students? Filipino students will shine again.
