If you’ve never heard of Steve Rolls, blame the business of boxing. But if you’re a Steve Rolls fan excited to see him challenge former middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin at Madison Square Garden next Saturday, thank the business of boxing for placing Rolls in the spotlight. “I’m in my prime now, and if I’d passed this up I’d have kicked myself later in life,” Rolls said. Rolls’ head trainer, Tommy Howat, realizes the vast gap between defeating Leatherwood and confronting Golovkin, but says his fighter is prepared to navigate it. “I get the business, and I understand why guys wouldn’t want to fight Steve,” Howat said.
