A few years ago, I had a falling out with my older sister over the terms of our father’s will. After it was settled, I tried on numerous occasions to reach out to her; she responded with some very nasty emails. What I am wondering is: Do I attempt to stay in touch with her kids — my niece and nephew? I tried sending birthday cards and even Christmas gifts but I’m not sure they received them. Those connections simply are; they come with the turf of being born, whether parents particularly like that or not.
