CAIRO, 23 November 2020: The Ethics Committee of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) decided to suspend Ahmed Ahmed, President of the Confederation of Confederation of African Football (CAF), due to financial misconduct. Because of these violations, the committee decided to suspend Ahmed Ahmed for a period of 5 years from practicing any activity related to football, in addition to a fine of 200,000 Swiss francs. Ahmed will not be able to compete with Ivorian Jacques Anoma, Senegalese Augustine Senghor, Mauritanian Ahmed Ould Yahya, and South African Patrice Mutsipi, in the CAF presidential elections next March. Ahmed Ahmed took over the presidency of the African Union in March 2017, after he ousted Cameroonian Issa Hayatou from his position as he was the president for more than 3 decades.
