The ferry services on the Shimulia-Kathalbari and Daulatdia-Paturia routes have resumed after nine hours of disruption caused by dense fog. On Daulatdia-Paturia route, the ferry services were suspended around 1:30am on Tuesday to avoid accident, said AGM of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Nasir Mohammad Chowdhury at Aricha. Meanwhile, on Shimulia-Kathalbari route, the ferry services were also suspended around 1:30am leaving at least six ferries stranded, said Assistant General Manager of BIWTC Shah Newaz Khaled at Shimulia. More them 500 vehicles are waiting on both sides to cross the river, Khaled said. The ferry services on the Shimulia-Kathalbari and Daulatdia-Paturia routes resumed at 10:30am as the fog disappeared.
