PETALING JAYA: The Finance Ministry will be providing a special allocation of RM77mil to Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) settlers to address the state plantation agency's critical cash flow shortage. "The issue has been a concern of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who instructed for the allocation to be given," said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng. “The Finance Ministry will channel the allocation of RM77,000,000 for 2018 to the Economic Affairs Ministry as the ministry regulating Felda,” said Lim in a statement on Thursday (Dec 20). Lim said the allocation is to help Felda settlers solve several outstanding payments, including RM1.2mil to the heir of 120 settlers who have passed away. Lim said the allocation will also benefit over 38,000 settlers with cost of living assistance and providing down-payment for replanting amounting to RM32.8mil.
