Featherston Poppy Places of Remembrance, part of a nationwide project, marked 18 sites throughout the town related to World War I and World War II. JACK BARLOW/STUFF Dignitaries line up at the opening of the Featherston Poppy Places project. The Featherston Military Camp was the largest military camp in the country during WWI. During WWII, the camp was rebuilt as a prisoner of war camp.
