“At present the discount offer is available to employees of Glasgow Life, the council and other arms length bodies but extending it to retired staff presents real challenges. “We don’t have a simple way to verify or target the retired status across all of the council organisations. “Offering further discounts would reduce vital membership income which currently covers around 40% of the services operating cost and it could impact the service quality if we were to make changes. “We have chosen Glasgow Life to maintain a fair pricing policy with concessions based on ability to pay rather than unemployment history.
