A father was killed when it is believed he tried to stop his girlfriend's handbag being taken. The victim, named locally as Danny Humble, 35, was returning from a night out with his partner when he was attacked in an underpass. The couple had taken a short-cut home through the concrete tunnel that led from the centre of Cramlington in Northumberland. The man was laid out on the grass near the underpass where the paramedics were working on him. Yesterday, floral tributes were left at the scene, including one with a card saying 'Fly high Danny.'
