Extended sitting also prolongs the spikes in blood sugar levels after meals, creating the perfect setting for type 2 diabetes. Better still, the brisk walkers saw better health results — a drop in body fat of 2.4 per cent compared with 1.8 per cent in the 10,000-steppers.
