The Laikipia Farmers’ Association wants a special prosecution unit and a mobile court set up for speedy action against illegal trespassers. The association said in a statement on Thursday that this should be done by DPP Keriako Tobiko and Chief Justice David Maraga. Armed attacks on private and community property in Laikipia have cost investors and citizens billions of shillings, risking businesses and livelihoods in one of Kenya’s most economically buoyant regions. He said the special unit would deal with people who have illegal weapons and those who maliciously damage property and illegally move livestock.
