New York Attorney General Letitia James' office said on Tuesday it reached a settlement with Betar US that would wind down the far-right Zionist group's New York operations after an investigation found the group intimidated pro-Palestinian activists. After President Donald Trump took office last year and signed executive orders targeting pro-Palestinian protesters and activists, Betar said it provided names of international students and faculty to the Trump administration for deportation. ADVERTISEMENTAfter investigating Betar, the New York attorney general's office found the group "repeatedly targeted individuals based on religion and national origin," it said in a statement. It added that Betar was seeking to dissolve its not-for-profit corporation and had indicated that it was winding down operations in New York. Israel has said it took action in self-defense after Hamas-led militants killed 1,200 people and took 250 hostage in their 2023 attack.
