more-inIn a crackdown launched by Thoothukudi police, three persons of a family indulged in chain snatchings were arrested and seized 52 sovereigns of gold ornaments from them. Besides, a car used by the family was also seized, Superintendent of Police, P. Mahendran said here on Wednesday. The arrested were K. Subramani (65) of Bethel Nagar, Neelangarai, Chennai, and his son, Subash (25) and his daughter, Suji (29). Investigations revealed that they snatched chains during the kumbabishekam of Sri Sankara Rameswarar Temple (Sivan Kovil) here in September. Totally, stolen items worth ₹22.83 lakh were recovered and handed over to complainants, Mr. Mahendran said.
