more-inSixteen swimmers were selected from the district for a zonal-level meet for the Chief Minister Trophy and also MGR centenary celebrations meet here on Wednesday. Cash award was given to all the winners under various categories. Cash ₹1,000 was given for the first place, ₹750 for the second place and ₹500 for the third place. Cash award of ₹1 lakh will be offered to State-level winner in each category, according to sports officials. Coaches in Theni and Dindigul district conducted trials and selected candidates in the open competition held at district swimming pool.
