Hundreds of ex-police officers were on Friday morning turned away at the GSU headquarters after appearing for nonexistent jobs. The jobseekers, mostly deserters and those dismissed had been enticed by a social media post to being absorbed back into the National Police Service. The viral post required them to report to the paramilitary base for recruitment. “If you know of any police officer alifutwa kazi (dismissed) or deserted and is willing kurudi kazi afike Ruaraka kesho treat as urgent if willing, GSU hq,” the post read. “We shall be conducting the recruitment early next year…we cannot have it this year, we are late,” Kindiki said without revealing more details.
