Friday marks the launch of the of Fairlie's 150th week-long jubilee celebrations. The programme will kick off on Friday afternoon with a powhiri at McLean's Park, followed by a pub to pub wheelbarrow race. Fairlie 150th Committee chairman Chris Clarke said there was a "real buzz" around town on the eve of the celebrations. "In small communities in particular, and ones like Fairlie that are geographically isolated, we don't have access to stuff other people put on.
