Factory worker claims trial to robbing and raping college student - Nation


A factory worker claimed trial at the Sessions Court here for robbing and sexually violating a university student last week.Amirulfaizal Amiruddin, 27, was first charged for raping the student under a tree behind an apartment in Section 7 here between 8.30pm to 10.30pm on Nov 1.He also faced a second charge of performing carnal intercourse against the order of nature against the 22-year-old student at the same place and time.He had allegedly forced her to perform oral sex on him.Amirulfaizal was also slapped with a third charge of robbing the woman of a cell phone and RM100 while threatening her with a knife.He was charged under Section 376 (2) (b) of the Penal Code, for rape, which provides a jail term of between 10 to 30 years and whipping.For the second accusation, Amirulfaizal was charged under Section 377C of the same code and faced five to 20 years imprisonment and whipping if found guilty.For robbing the student at knifepoint, he was charged under Section 392 of the Penal Code which was read together with Section 397 of the same Code and is liable to a jail term of up to 14 years and whipping.DPP Nurul Nadia Basri prosecuted while the accused was not represented.Judge Mohd Sabri Ismail set Dec 4 for mention of case and for Amirulfaizal to appoint a lawyer.
