A fish factory shed in a remote area of the West Coast near Haast is on fire. Fire and Emergency New Zealand senior communicator Daryl Ball said they received the call just before 9am to attend a 80m by 30m shed on fire at Neils Beach. Three helicopters with monsoon buckets and fire crews from Haast are at the scene and fire crews from Fox Glacier and Franz Josef are on the way. Mr Ball said the blaze was in a relatively remote area near Jacksons Bay and communications were difficult. At this stage he could not confirm if the shed was near any houses or if reports of ammunition being stored in the shed were accurate.
