World leaders have been challenged by the extent to which a biological health emergency can bring down the world. When the Covid-19 exploded, the industry was pushed to change overnight, turn on a dime, and readjust and re-calibrate what we needed to do to keep going. The biggest challenge has been to control the Covid-19 situation on board cruise vessels, ensuring stability of health (including isolation or quarantine if needed), getting to port and connecting with the airlines. It has been all hands on deck between the government and industry to help facilitate the movement of seafarers back home. Pray only that I will be an adequate man.’”May we prove to be adequate human beings in meeting the Covid-19 challenge.
