Facebook is reportedly testing a new feature for Messenger, that lets you connect with people not on your friends list. According to a BuzzFeed News report, Facebook is testing a new tool that lets you add non-friends to your chat list. The feature lets you connect with a contact in your phone book, even if you’re not friends on Facebook. This is somewhat different from a pre-existing feature, that lets you add a contact when you receive a message from them for the first time. In the case of the new feature, you can proactively add someone from your phone book and then message them freely.
