CAIRO – 16 February 2024: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry lauded considerable efforts made by The Elders with international parties to stop bloodshed in the Gaza Strip and contain the worsening humanitarian situation in the Palestinian enclave. Shoukry's remarks came during his meeting on Friday with a number of prominent former world leaders who are members of The Elders group, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference held from 16 -18 February, said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid. Shoukry warned of the serious humanitarian repercussions of any Israeli military operations in Rafah city, the spokesman said. The Elders members expressed appreciation of Egypt's strenuous efforts to contain the crisis' fallout and its key role in providing humanitarian aid, he said.
