FC Edmonton match postponed due to poor air quality

A scheduled match between FC Edmonton and Winnipeg’s Valour FC has been postponed due to poor air quality, the club announced Saturday. The match was intended to start at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Clarke Field but has been re-scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Sunday. At 1 p.m., the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) in Edmonton Saturday reached a 7 (high risk) but it’s expected to rise to a 10+ (very high risk) this afternoon. “Our players, organization, fans and supporters’ safety and health is the Canadian Premier League’s top priority and we don’t want to encourage people to leave their homes when it is dangerous to their health,” the club said in a statement Saturday. Tickets to Saturday’s match will be valid for Sunday.
