One person has been fined $600 after an explosive gender reveal party near Fort McMurray sparked a wildfire. This is the third unintentional wildfire started by an exploding target in Alberta so far this wildfire season, said Travis Fairweather, a wildfire information officer with Alberta Wildfire. "[Gender reveal parties] do seem to be growing in popularity and people are trying to one-up the last one, that is for sure. "Certainly we're hoping that the exploding targets don't become a more common method for that." A recent wildfire in Alberta was caused by an exploding target during a gender reveal party.
