Explosion reported at electricity substation on Auckland's North ShoreMARION VAN DIJK The Fire Service is on scene following an explosion in Auckland's Northcote. Power has been restored to more than 2000 houses who were without power this morning after an explosion was reported at a substation on Auckland's North Shore. A Fire Service spokesman said two trucks had arrived at the scene at about 7.10am. Emergency services were called to the incident at the Northcote Substation on Lake Rd just after 7am on Thursday. It followed a report of a power pole on fire on the intersection of Lake and Onewa Rds.
