Explosion in Turkey's Southeast Kills 2 Soldiers

Turkey's state-run news agency reports Kurdish rebels have killed two soldiers and wounded three others in the southeastern province of Mardin. Since then, more than 500 Turkish security personnel and nearly 5,000 PKK militants have been killed, according to the agency. The Anadolu Agency said Wednesday an improvised explosive device went off as an armored vehicle was passing the town of Derik. Turkey has been caught in the throes of violence, combatting both the PKK and the Islamic State group. The intensified fighting with the PKK comes after a precarious two and a half year ceasefire collapsed last summer.
