Executed Canadian hostage Robert Hall was a skilled tradesman, actor — and dreamer

Kimberley Preston-Stevens last bumped into Robert Hall a couple years ago at the Wal-Mart store in Campbell River, B.C. The fate of the other two hostages; Hall’s Filipina girlfriend, Marites Flor, and Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad; was not known. There was talk that the Hall family was involved. “Intelligence sources tell us Canadian Robert Hall was murdered on Jolo Island this afternoon,” said Mark Singer, director of business intelligence for the Manila office of Pacific Strategies and Assessments Inc., which closely tracks Abu Sayyaf. Hall, a retired fellow actor from the local theatre group, told her he had sold most of his belongings and was getting ready to sail around the world.
