The murder was reported from the district’s Dhanuakhala village on Saturday night, said Nazirabazar Police Outpost Inspector Mahmudul Hasan Rubel. The deceased was identified as former serviceman Mobarak Hossain, who worked at a travel agency. A group of men attempted to enter the home around 2am by cutting the lock, the victim’s family said. Hossain noticed their presence and was shot when he went out to the balcony. The critically injured Hossain was taken to the Comilla Cantonment CMH, where he was declared dead, said Inspector Mahmudul HasanIt was not clear whether the perpetrators were attempting a robbery, but an investigation is ongoing, the police official said.
