West Brom were leading 1-0 at the time through Jay Rodriguez's early strike, with substitute Oumar Niasse equalising for the hosts as the match ended 1-1. West Brom midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak - who played in the match - tweeted a message of support for McCarthy, writing: "I hope it won’t be as serious as it looks James, get well soon, rest is only football." McCarthy's teammate Coleman has still to play since his broken leg last year, although he has recently returned to training with the Blues.
