A police spokeswoman said Fire and Emergency New Zealand staff were evacuating people, while police had blocked Whiterig Rd and McKinnon Rd, near where the truck had crashed. It was off the road and on its wheels, but near water, she said. The driver appeared to be okay and had left the vehicle, and an ambulance was on its way, she said.
