Rising from the briny waters of the North Sea, Under looks like a concrete shipping container run aground. But its monolithic exterior belies a unique dining experience — five metres below sea level in southern Norway. On Wednesday, Reuters reports, Europe’s first underwater restaurant held a soft opening for friends and family. “The fascination is just this movement from above water to underwater through the building,” Snøhetta’s founder Kjetil Traedal Thorsen told Reuters. Under joins the ranks of a few other seafloor spots around the world, such as Hurawalhi Maldives Resort’s 5.8 Undersea Restaurant, the world’s largest all-glass underwater restaurant.
