Quite possibly, however, they may not be the biggest surprise story of the season: that honor may well go to Eintracht Frankfurt. They can boast just one DFB Pokal cup win in the last 30 years - that coming last season, enough to qualify them to this year’s UEFA Europa League. In the league, they sit fourth and, barring a catastrophic end to the season, will qualify for the Champions’ League for the first time ever. If they were to reach the UEFA Europa League Final, it would be a shock to match any in Europe this season. If, as expected, Frankfurt qualify for the Champions League, then we will be hearing plenty more about the men from the Main.
