Ethiopian House Speaker ResignsOctober 7, 2017 - Abadulla Gemeda, Ethiopia’s Speaker of the House of the Peoples' Representatives, resigned from his post, reports the Ethiopian weekly reporter. Abadulla’s letter of resignation was submitted to the Ethiopian People Revolutionary Democratic Front Executive Committee, stating personal reasons as the cause of the resignation. However, some sources speculate federal handling of the border conflict with Somali region and last year protests as reasons for the resignation. Sources close to the matter confirmed that his resignation was submitted to the executive committee two weeks ago and the committee accepted his resignation. Abadulla who has been serving as the speaker of the House for two terms has been on the job until yesterday and he will also be chairing the Monday October 7, 2017 opening of the joint session of the Parliament and the House of the Federation.
