February 13, (THEWILL) – Ethiopian Ulfata Deresa Geleta has won the 42-kilometer Lagos City Marathon this year. The ultimate prize for the winner of the 42km race was set at $30,000, according to the competition’s organisers. The Lagos City Marathon in 2022 is the eighth in the state’s marathon series. Participants gathered at the National Stadium’s entrance in Surulere very early to begin the 42km marathon. Shortly after the race, Geleta was presented with a cheque for $30,000 as the winner the 42km race.
