Ethiopian government officials said a giant hydroelectric dam built on a Nile River tributary is set to begin generating power on Sunday. Efe Asheber Balecha, the head of Ethiopia's electricity utility, said Saturday, "One of the turbines installed in the hydroelectric megaplant will begin generating electricity tomorrow." The drainage basin encompasses ten countries: Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
