The Ethiopian government has cancelled deals to purchase about 600,000 tonnes of wheat agreed in international tenders in November 2020, an Ethiopian state agency said on Tuesday. “The bid to purchase 600,000 tonnes of wheat is cancelled because the companies failed to provide a performance bond after they signed the contract,” Melkamu Defali, spokesman for Ethiopian state purchasing agency the Public Procurement & Property Disposal Service told Reuters by phone. The deals had been awarded to trading companies Rosentreter and Martina, he said.
