A Celebration of Our Top Young Artists, presented by the China Cultural Centre in Wellington, Soundworks Music School and Maximum Dance Zone, Speirs Centre, Palmerston North. Any concert featuring the talents of Tehezib Lathiff, Nathan Pinkney, Shirley Xu, Nina Peck and Melanie Pinkney is well worth surrendering an afternoon for. Combine these accomplished classical performers with traditional musicians and dancers from the China Cultural Centre in Wellington, returning and resident young Palmerston North musicians and dancers from Maximum Dance Zone, and the outcome is an eruption of youthful talent. It closed with a striking Pokarekare Ana, sung by Lathiff while accompanied by Wellington's classical Chinese ensemble and an assembled concert chorus that blended the classical music and dance traditions of East and West. The concert also featured the fluid flute of Jacqueline McPherson, joined by classical ballet dancer Mikah BatachEl.
