As part of a crime wave of naked attacks that have struck eastern Australia, a Canadian tourist was arrested, charged and convicted for viciously attacking a New South Wales police vehicle with his head. The incident took place in Byron Bay, a popular holiday spot about two hours south of Brisbane. Before officers had a chance to exit the vehicle, the man launched himself headfirst into the car’s windshield, shattering it on impact. The attack took place on Christmas Day, although it has recently made headlines again in the Australian press as one of a spate of violent, meth-fuelled naked attacks in the area. The other incidents include an erratic naked man who was found on a family’s deck, a man found diving headfirst off fences and a naked 15-year-old boy who was found yelling at pedestrians on a Byron Bay street.
