Fixing the relationship between Alberta and Canada will require major structural changes, like giving the province more seats in the Senate, he said. “I don’t think Albertans will vote to leave until we’ve tried to fix Canada,” he said. The party could then act like the Bloc Québécois of the West by only voting for Western interests in Parliament, he said. “Reform got everybody’s attention in the ‘88 election but didn’t win any seats ... and then crushed in Western Canada in ‘93.
