Envoys from South Asian countries have welcomed the speech by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence day. During the speech, PM Modi had called for "peace and harmony" in the region which will "immense help to the welfare of humanity". Aminath Shabeena, the Maldivian Acting High Commissioner, told WION, "PM Modi’s speech at the outset of the 74th Independence Day of India stands to be very promising and indeed reinvigorating the potential neighbourly cooperation." Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech on Independence day, Nilamber Acharya agreed that, "Indian PM has rightly emphasised on century-old relations in the region and unleashing the potential of the future cooperation. We neighbours in South Asia have things in common, not only emotionally, culturally, socially, morally but spiritually as well.
