EDMONTON—Residents woke up to a worsening air quality Saturday morning as smoke plumes from wildfires in British Columbia continue to drift into the city. Environment Canada issued an air quality advisory, urging residents to avoid outdoor activities for the day. The city remains engulfed in smoke plumes wafting eastward from wildfires in British Columbia. People with lung diseases, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), can be particularly sensitive to air pollution. Environment Canada recommends that people with breathing difficulties stay indoors in a place that's cool and ventilated.
