No one did light like Mary Pratt. She raised four children in a remote village of Newfoundland while her husband, the celebrated painter Christopher Pratt, would retreat to his studio for hours and days. Despite ill health, artist Mary Pratt made the trip to Toronto in 2014, a visit that had a profound impact on art critic Murray Whyte. But like many people who had the chance to sit with Mary, I’d imagine, it left a mark. That was true of the work, and true of Mary herself.
