Slack Technologies Inc.’s soaring market debut on Thursday was the latest example of investors’ unquenchable appetite for tech companies building modern digital services for other businesses. Even as consumer-facing companies selling products like fake-meat burgers and pet supplies have seen strong starts, they’re part of a mixed group of IPOs. Ride-hailing giants Uber Technologies Inc. and Lyft Inc. are both trading below where their shares priced earlier this year.
