It is designing brain implants that will allow people to type out a text message or email and navigate a computer simply by thinking. It wants initially to help patients with brain injuries and diseases, including paralysis, Alzheimer’s and dementia, but the eventual goal is to design a wireless implant that anyone can install and control through a smartphone app. It may even restore sensory functions, such as giving sight to the blind.
