Electric spark disrupts operations at Lagos airport

Operations were briefly disrupted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday following an electrical spark that triggered smoke within one of the airport’s operational offices, forcing a temporary shutdown of a section of the terminal. The incident occurred at the airport’s temporary terminal facility, Terminal 3, at about 2:05pm, causing panic among passengers and airport workers before emergency responders swiftly moved in to contain the situation. The incident was made known through a statement by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria. “Electrical maintenance is currently ongoing to ensure that all electrical systems are functioning optimally ahead of the Terminal’s reopening,” the authorities stated. While no casualties or injuries were reported, the incident has again called for attention over incessant electrical-related incidents at the airport.
