Electric car-charging stations make their way to Egypt

Posted on Thursday, 22 February 2018 15:31By ReutersAn Egyptian company has introduced 65 electric car-charging stations across the Arab world's most populous country, giving commuters a chance to opt for clean energy. The company launched the stations in February in its first round and plans to reach 300 stations by 2020. Each station costs roughly 700,000 to 1 million Egyptian pounds ($39,606 to 56,580) to manufacture. According to Revolta's Chief Executive, Mohamed Badawy, the company aims to offer electric cars for 250,000 Egyptian pounds ($14,145). As a result, Egyptian car owners may spend hundreds of Egyptian pounds to fill up their tanks, but electric cars cost much less to charge.
