Sheldon Nesdale's 40th birthday party on Saturday night turned out to be a bit of an anti-climax. The Tauranga election candidate looked forward to celebrating a double milestone by winning a seat on the council as well. Instead the marketing adviser who stood for the Otumoetai/Pyes Pa Ward ended up feeling ''pretty gutted'' - polling fifth in a very close contest for two seats. Mr Nesdale said he had hoped to combine his birthday party with an election celebration, but it wasn't to be.
