Rift Valley Council of Elders has tendered a memorandum to President Uhuru Kenyatta highlighting several contentious issues that he should address at Afraha Stadium during Madaraka day. President Kenyatta is expected to lead Madaraka day celebrations at Afraha stadium in Nakuru County. Chairman of the council Gilbert Kabage said on Thursday land issues have proven to be thorny and have led to the loss of lives. He said old people are suffering since they cannot foot hospital bills or pay sh500 required for NHI monthly. A member of the council Peter Charage also asked the government to address growing concerns of hate speech cases and enroll senior citizens on a free National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) scheme.
